So, three of our Competition Team appeared on Fight Light T.C 4 this weekend. Here’s a quick round up of the action that took place.
First up was Cameron McDonald fighting at 65KG in his first fight on the promotion. Cam had what can only be described as “an absolute war” with the fight going both ways consistently throughout. Ultimately Cam lost a decision but can hold his head high knowing that his bout was awarded “Fight of the Night” and he displayed brilliant striking throughout.
Speaking with Cam earlier today, he gave a few quick comments on how everything went on the night…
“It was an absolute war, back and forth all the way through. No doubt it was a great fight for both myself and the spectators, I really enjoyed it”
Next up we had one of our female members, Tina Kimber. She stepped in full of focus and enthusiasm and determined to put on a good fight and come away with the win. For three rounds Tina showed quality striking, keeping her opponent against the ropes and picking her off with perfect timing and precision to gain a clear decision win.
Lastly we had our very own “Beardy Brawler” Luke Begley, step in for his bout. Luke showed off his striking skills and outboxed his opponent but was taken down a few times and ultimately lost a decision on the night.
I spoke to Luke not long after his fight and he had this to say….
“The guy took me down a lot and outwrestled me but I feel I outstruck him in the stand up. I’ve learnt what I need to work on and I’ll be back grafting and grinding straight away to work on my skills. The guy was an absolute unit and I respect his wrestling skills but I’ll be coming back stronger, leaner and faster”
Head coach Matt Thorpe shared a few thoughts about the night’s events….
“Win or lose, I ask my guys and gals to give 100% in the ring/cage every time. They will always have a happy coach as a result! Tonight I am a happy coach, I’m very proud of my fighters they all did awesome!”
Once the photos and videos are released of this weekends fights be sure to check back here to watch them in full! Above all well done to Luke, Tina and Cam in their respective fights, no doubt they will have all taken away valuable experience and knowledge – whether it’s a win or loss on the night.
We move onto GP UK next being held up in Stoke-on-Trent on April 4th. Look out for the event preview coming up soon. We have three competitors raring to get in there and compete. If you need tickets you can get these from Matt at 12 Gauge MMA’s reception.
Cheers
